PANGEA – PANhellenic GEophysical observatory of Antikythera

Description: PANGEA “PANhellenic GEophysical observatory of Antikythera (PANGEA)” is a National Research Infrastructure that focuses on as the climate change and its impact on severe weather and natural disasters in Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean, following the monitoring standards of the World Meteorological Organization (GAW/WMO). It will operate as a National Hub for the continuous monitoring of Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) streaming real-time information to the Greek State, Academia and research centers, focusing in particular on: (i) the provision of certified data and expertise on issues related to climate change, air quality and natural disasters, (ii) timely provision of services and information to public bodies in support of decision-making for the management of natural disaster crises and (iii) improvement of climate projections at the regional scale, for effective mitigation and adaptation.
Role of APCG: Responsible for the in situ component of the observatory
