Dr. Giannaros Theodore
ASSOCIATE RESEARCHER
CAREER

Since 2020, I serve as an Associate Researcher at the Institute for Environmental Research & Sustainable Development of the National Observatory of Athens in Greece. My primary field of expertise is atmospheric modeling, with particular emphasis on numerical weather prediction and regional climate modeling. I have been working with atmospheric numerical models for more than 10 years, focusing particularly on the development of tools and services that support the protection of the environment, life and property. In recent years, I have been specializing in fire meteorology, fire spread prediction and fire-atmosphere interactions. Within this context, I led the development of a novel fire spread forecasting system that currently supports operationally the Hellenic Fire Corps. My publication record includes 33 publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, which have attracted 416 citations (h-index = 12).
