Intelligent Services for Energy-Efficient Design and Life Cycle Simulation

Develop Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) building blocks to integrate, complement and empower existing tools for design and operation facility management (FM) to a Virtual Energy Lab (VEL). The goal is to evaluate, simulate and optimize the energy efficiency of products for buildings and facility components in variations of real life scenarios before their realization, acknowledging the stochastic life-cycle nature of material properties, weather data and occupancy profiles. The focus is on multi-model design and testing, stochastic lifecycle analysis/simulation in combination with new supporting ontology and interoperability tools and services, and respective re-engineering of existing tools, making them more intelligent and smartly interoperable. Combine energy models with product data and operational characteristics in building information models (BIM). The VEL offers new computational tools (e.g. thermal simulation and CFD), facilitates the exchange of relevant data and information in the BIM model, facilitates the overview of results and provides the necessary computational power through cloud computing. http://ises.eu-project.info/
