Integrated use of satellite remote sensing and hydraulic modeling for the flood risk assessment at a catchment scale in Cyprus
The main goal of the SATFLOOD project is the digital mapping of the urban sprawl in the island of Cyprus with the application of digital image analysis techniques to high spatial resolution satellite images and radar satellite images to record in detail the past flood zones of the local drainage network. Through this multidisciplinary approach, the present and the past regime of Yialias catchment area is under assessment. The target is to develop predictive models that can be utilized by the local authorities as road maps for a future sustainable urban planning.
