HYDRO-NET: Hydro-Telemetric Networks of Surface Waters: Gauging instruments, smart technologies, installation and operation
HYDRO-NET aims at upgrading and further developing a standard surface-water hydro-telemetry monitoring network, with a view of applying the principles of design and optimal operation of this network to the hydrometric networks in the Greek Territory, which will supply the network https://openhi.net/ (Open Hydrosystem Information Network) of the HIMIOFoTS project, with observations.
To achieve this, an integrated approach is based on:
(1) the International Best Practices in Hydrometry, (2) development of smart, low-cost telemetry technologies, (3) development of a combined method for water metering and flow simulation for the simplest estimation of the water flow, and (4) the application of the above to the existing hydro-telemetry network of DEUCALION of the National Observatory of Athens, in Attica and in the Peloponnese, along with its upgrade and further expansion in the above areas.
The ultimate goal is to apply the principles of design, installation and operation of the hydro-telemetry system to existing local networks. The final goal is to set up a national hydro-telemetry network that will supply the National Open Hydrosystem Information Network Infrastructure https://openhi.net/ with hydrological data/measurements/observations.
The project is Part (15) of the Hellenic Integrated Marine and Inland Water Observing, Forecasting and Offshore Technology System, HIMIOFoTS (MIS 5002739), Action “Strengthening Research and Technology Infrastructures”, Business Plan “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation”. Co-financed by the Hellenic Ministry for Economy and Development, and the European Union, European Regional Development Fund through NSRF 2014-2020.
