Meteorological Instrument Calibration

Properly calibrated equipment ensures accurate measurements of meteorological and radiometric parameters.
Service Description and Applications:
Calibration capability for the following instruments: thermometers and thermographs, hygrometers and hygrographs, barometers, pyranometers, pyrheliometers, photometers, anemometers, and rain gauges. Technical support is also provided for the use of meteorological-radiometric sensors and instruments, as well as consulting services during the selection and installation process of meteorological equipment. Finally, independent specialized measurements can be performed on behalf of third parties using proprietary calibrated equipment.
The service is intended for:
Companies and organizations in the public and private sectors that: (a) operate equipment for measuring meteorological and/or radiometric parameters, (b) wish to select and install such equipment, and (c) wish to evaluate existing procedures through an independent body.
Methodologies and Tools Applied:
The calibration process takes place at the Meteorological Instrument Calibration Laboratory (MICL) of the IERSD in Penteli. Data collection and processing are carried out with high-precision systems and with the aid of computers. The MICL adheres to the EN 45000 International Quality Assurance Standards. Calibrations are performed based on the best current scientific practice, ISO standards, the ISO Guide On the expression of Uncertainties, as well as the guidelines of the World Meteorological Organization WMO-No 8 “Guide to meteorological instruments and methods of observations”.
