Service Description and Applications:

Real-time updates from the sensors of the national PANACEA infrastructure network regarding PM2.5 concentration, specifically in Athens, but also in other Greek cities supported by the infrastructure, in cases of pollution episodes such as suburban fires, factory fires, dust episodes, etc. Ability to provide data on specialized gaseous and particulate pollutants recorded at the Urban Background Air Pollution Monitoring Superstation in Thissio. Possibility of relocating and installing the mobile station for on-site measurements at points of interest. The website of the sensor network, which provides real-time data, is open to the public (https://air-quality.gr/).

Methodologies and Tools Applied:

Each sensor of the national PANACEA infrastructure network for PM2.5 concentration is calibrated against standard reference instrumentation for PM2.5 concentration measurement before its installation at each sampling point. The scientific equipment of the Urban Background Air Pollution Monitoring Superstation of NOA and the mobile station of IERSD also undergo operational checks, maintenance, and calibration.
