It has been operating as a Class A station since November 1890, when the first self-recording instruments were purchased and the station was permanently installed on the NOA premises in Thissio, where it remains to this day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"custom-image-frame\">The self-recording instruments ensured continuous monitoring of the main meteorological parameters (air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, rainfall, wind direction, and speed). However, older data also exist from meteorological observations conducted three times a day at specific times: 08:00, 14:00, and 20:00 (21:00 until 1930) at various locations in central Athens, before the station&#8217;s permanent installation at its current site. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image custom-frame\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"660\" height=\"581\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iersd.noa.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/installations5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9882\" style=\"aspect-ratio:16\/9;object-fit:cover;width:378px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iersd.noa.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/installations5.jpg 660w, https:\/\/www.iersd.noa.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/installations5-300x264.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Continuous recording of meteorological parameters<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>In addition to the basic climatic parameters, the archive includes daily measurements and observations of numerous other climatic and atmospheric variables, such as soil temperature at various depths, evaporation, cloudiness, visibility, sunshine, etc. Continuous recording of most climatic and atmospheric variables is now ensured through the gradual automation of the station, while observations from conventional instruments are also maintained where applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Historic Meteorological Station The historic meteorological station of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) is located on Nymphs&#8217; Hill in Thissio (LAT 37\u00b0 58\u2032 24\u2033 N, LONG 23\u00b0 43\u2032 05\u2033 E, ALT 107m).
